Why, hello! I see a lot of pretty new faces out there. Thanks for checking out my post about social media and signing up to follow Truth and Cake. Welcome to my party for you. Getting Freshly Pressed is a lot of fun because it introduces me to so many amazing new people. I’ve been lucky enough to have it happen twice since I started this little old blog just over three months ago, and I want to share some of that love with you.
One of the unfortunate things about blogging is that a lot of really talented people pour their heart and souls into creative, well-written posts on a regular basis, only to hit publish and then…..crickets. Nada. Without an audience, some really great posts go virtually unnoticed. While the cream eventually rises to the top, it can take a very long time for people to notice that you are the cream.
So, I’m inviting you to Freshly Press yourself.
While I can’t offer you instant fame and fortune (or actual freshly pressedness), I can offer you an audience of over 1,000 people who may just be interested in what you have to say.
Here’s how it works:
1) Pick one of your best posts, something you think will resonate with Truth and Cake readers– it can be funny or serious, insightful or light hearted. But it should definitely be creative and very you.
2) In the comments section below, give us a brief summary of and direct link to your post (I’ll be patrolling my spam folder to make sure your inclusion of a link doesn’t stick you in spam purgatory—unless you spam me, in which case, you stay there). I’d also love to know where you’re from, if you’re inclined to share.
3) If you choose to participate (ie: share your post in the comments section), you agree to read and comment on at least three other blog posts. Please comment on their blogs directly.
5) If you like what you read, go ahead and subscribe to that blog.
This is your opportunity to connect with others, share something you’ve written and possibly grow your readership. And isn’t that a big part of why we’re all here in the first place?
For me, one of the very best parts of blogging has been watching a community form. I visit my reader’s blogs and see that they’ve developed relationships outside of Truth and Cake. They leave comments for one another, they have an ongoing discourse, they’ve become blogging friends. That’s something I never anticipated when I started this blog. It is, for lack of a better word, awesome.
I want all of us to succeed as bloggers. Here, at the very least, is a chance to make new friends. So go ahead and show us what you’ve got. Give us the good stuff. And if you’re really new, no worries, we want to hear from you too. (Oh, and if you’re not a blogger, hey–here’s some new reading material for you!)
As an added bonus, I’ll peruse your posts and choose three that resonate with me to feature on Truth and Cake next week. Instant fame! Instant fortune! Okay, just a lot of love and warm fuzzies. I look forward to reading your fantastic posts. Have a great weekend!
Hi, I’m Abby and I’m from the Philippines. Because of your blog about Social Media, I wrote this: http://abbysanchez.com/2012/07/single-girl-diaries-1. Hee. And I now follow you! Keep inspiring!
http://lazylauramaisey.wordpress.com/2012/03/27/ten-things-i-have-learned/ This is one of my earlier posts which got a good reaction but my audience was a lot smaller then so I thought I’d get it out again for another look. It’s ten things that life has taught me (but doesn’t include the excellent suggestion from a follower of “Reading in the bath is never as good as you think it will be.” Which is true).
Hi I’m Lenique and I’m from South Africa :)
I am new to blogging, but I am learning a lot from bloggers like you, so thanks for a great blog.
http://lbossr.wordpress.com/2012/06/21/a-stranger-is-just-a-friend-you-havent-met-volume-1/ – This is a post I wrote about a very special friend.
http://lbossr.wordpress.com/2012/05/23/a-message-from-tyler-perry/ – this post got the greatest response.
Looking forward to your next post :)
This isn’t an exceptionally deep and meaningful post- I use my blog as more of a creative outlet than a diary- but hopefully it’ll make you smile!! (And I’m from England- which means at the moment it is raining outside even though it’s July. Depressing.)
(Ps. Thanks SO MUCH for doing this. And congrats on being Freshly Pressed!)
Rian, you are rapidly becoming an internet rock star. Congratulations of the 2nd FP. :)
Closest to the spirit of Truth and Cake is my blog post entitled Cosmic Harmony and Tea. http://standrewslynx.wordpress.com/2012/05/18/cosmic-harmony-tea/
After my life experienced a screw-up and I realised that a lot of things were out of sync with me. To get things back on track I would have to start from the bottom and work upwards, and did this by calling upon an old friend…
Looking forward to hearing what else your disciples offer up!
Oh, and I totally went and commented on more than 3 blog posts in the end. :D
Rian,
Thanks for being such a great person and sharing the love!
I would like to share a new feature at my blog “Fashion vs. Food”.
This first article is inspired by the blueberry as July is Blueberry Month.
I’d love to know if you and your readers find this interesting or fun and would be interested in seeing more of it.
http://astimegoesbuy.me/2012/07/09/blueberry-inspiration-fashion-vs-food/
A little about me – I am an American who now lives in Australia, near Melbourne (one of the greatest cities!). To pay the bills I work in Nursing Management but my heart belongs to fashion. Even as a woman of a “certain age” I still try to be stylish.
Thanks again for your generous spirit!
Cheers,
Laura
Congrats Rian!
Here’s a link to one of my favourite posts of mine.
As always, you are an inspiration!
Oh and I forgot to give a brief description of my blog. It’s called Not So Skinny Genes, and it’s a little project I started for myself in March this year. I write about anything that moves me, be that (un)employment stress, positive thoughts, gripes about life’s frustrations, or anything else that pops into my random head.
I’d love for more people to read what I’ve written, and comment on what they liked (or didn’t like).
Again, Thanks.
L
Wow, Rian, I’ve already made many dear blogger friends through your comments and now you give us an opportunity to share, thank you :-)
I’m a French girl writing in English and living in Switzerland. I’ll share a post about little everyday challenges that make life more fun and exciting:
I chose it as my most Truth and Cake-y post because it’s fun and it’s the only post I ever wrote about cake.
I hope you’ll enjoy it and I’m looking forward to reading the other contributions.
Congratulations to you and thank you so much for this opportunity… great idea!
I am a mother who recently lost my 20 month old son, Ethan, to a seizure that led to a coma. Although this tragedy has rocked our world, my husband and I cling to a hope, peace and strength that goes beyond all understanding. During the time Ethan was in the hospital, thousands of people around the world prayed and came together, touching their hearts in a deep way. He rocked our lives. He rocked our hearts. We will never be the same.
I started my blog, Ethan Isaac, Lessons from a Rock Star shortly after his passing. This post is called No More Pacifiers…
http://lessonsfromarockstar.wordpress.com/2012/06/10/no-more-pacifiers/
I hope your heart can be touched as well.
Count my heart as one of the touched ones. Thanks for sharing and pouring out your heart.
Hi my name is Sandy, it was through your freshly pressed article that I found you (which you thoroughly entertained me in), learnt how to follow you and another blogger only yesterday, yes I am only new, have no idea what I am doing, have re-edited some older blogs, changed my layout a bit and still not sure of the look. So here I am leaving my reply, saying thanks for the great read and will leave a link to my blog of today on my thoughts of Turbo Charged Kids in sport. http://parentingtipsforjuniorathletes.wordpress.com/2012/07/12/turbo-charged-children/ and will do my best to come back, look at other replies, read their articles and comment on them too. But for now it’s hit they haystack, read some Sophie Kinsella before I nod off!
“…it should be creative and definitely you.” The usual “me” is generally very funny, but I recently opened up about depression and my two most current posts are in reference to a friend in my blogging community who passed away last week. My last two or so weeks of writing deviate a bit from my usual fare.
So this post about the D-word is me, but maybe not the usual me: http://thesmartness.com/smartone/2012/06/a-series-on-self-doubt-in-which-i-make-a-confession-with-a-capital-d.html.
And because I feel like I need to back that up with a “definitely me” post, here’s one of my favorites from a while back in which I give advice to someone who inquired “what to do when you have assholes for children.”
In short, I’m a mom of four, surrogate mother to one, gangsta superhero. I write at http://theSmartness.com and do some stuff on a couple of other places online.
Thank you for opening up your comments to allow others the chance to expand their communities.
Hi Rian! What a wonderful idea! Thank you so much for organizing this – I’m looking forward to being inspired and challenged by all the amazing bloggers out there!
Here’s the post I’d like to share: http://wp.me/P2myYW-T Just like you described in your social media post, I got totally caught up in presenting the “right” part of myself on my blog, until I didn’t even enjoy writing for it anymore. Happily, I’ve found my way back to a more honest corner of the blogverse…and I hope sharing my experience can help others do the same!
Thanks again! And congrats on being Freshly Pressed!
I started reading through your blog. I really like it and I “clicked” follow so I can keep up with all your thoughts and ideas. Oh, and I voted “Maine” for your vacation. Good luck to you & enjoy!
Hi Megan! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the posts here – thanks for visiting and for the follow. I visited your blog and am truly inspired by your nephew’s story. Thanks for sharing!
Well you know us, already. Mother Sugar is a collective blog and we are always looking for more voices to join the conversation (and Rian, I am always thrilled to see yours on our page). Here are 3 posts which can give everyone an idea of what happens:
This posts talks about finding boxes of memories and your old self. http://mothersugar.wordpress.com/2012/06/19/the-boxes-under-the-stairs/
Here’s our latest, all about aging and whether (and how) we cope with loss of youthful beauty and what might be on the other end: http://mothersugar.wordpress.com/2012/07/07/i-am-maam/
Last, is there a conflict between a woman’s love for baking a cake and being a modern gal? There’s even a recipe! http://mothersugar.wordpress.com/2012/05/02/piece-of-mind-peace-of-cake/
We look forward to exploring…
where are we from? all over. Australia, Montana, Vancouver, Belgium, New York…
I’m originally from Montana, have you checked out Hunting for Bliss? Tobi is from Montana as well :) There was an amazing article from one of the Decemberists’ band members titled “The exceptionalism of Montanans” Not sure which of the mama sugar ladies is from MT, but sending you all a little hometown love {he lives in my current home town, Portland Oregon}
La Zuccheria is from Montana. And yes, we know Hunting for Bliss! Montana reminds me of where I am from in Canada, that big sky and big mountains….
Rian! This is a great idea! I live in Chicago, work as a behavior analyst, and blog about running and trying to live better in general. The post I am linking to here is from a long while ago, but it’s one I have often thought about re-posting, in it I work through what I see as common ways people miss the mark on goal-setting and goal-achieving: http://annabellewinters.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/how-reach-your-goals-tell-the-truth/
I am looking forward to adding several blogs to my reader today!
Well, why not start with my most recent post? I veered from my usual “Wyoming cowgirl/ranch life” posts and poked a bit of fun at the tired, old womanish habits I’ve picked up in the last few months. The feedback I’ve received tells me that my routine is actually quite average, so I guess that provides some comfort (… maybe I should return the thighmaster and bingo hall membership, though.)
My Weeknights as an Aged Woman: http://westeastern.me/2012/07/11/my-weeknights-as-an-aged-woman/
Hi Rian! I am from Omaha, NE. I’m a new reader/blogger and I love your blog. A lot of what you write about really resonates with things going on in my own life right now. My blog is fairly random at the moment, but I think I’m slowly finding my voice. This is one of my most recent posts and so far it’s gotten some of the best responses. Thank you for doing this!
What a fabulous idea Rian!
I’m hangin out here in York, PA with my little blog. The link I’ve posted is to a post a wrote a few months ago about my three favorite words. My blog is full of tidbits like how to bring out the awesome in life, love, travel, and interior design. I’m looking forward to checking out some of these other fantastic blogs ‘pressed’ here! Woohoo!
Rian! I was just about to say congrats on your Freshly Pressed post, but saw you put this one up! So: CONGRATS!!
You are truly a blogging rock star, and I feel privileged to ‘know’ you! This much blogging success in such a short time is virtually unheard of (at least I’ve never seen anything like it), and it’s so nice to see it happening to someone who really, truly deserves it.
This is such a great idea, too, as a follow-up post. Although if I find any new blogs to follow, I will have to quit my day job, LOL
Hmm, I think I know of a chipmunk loving blogger who has been freshly pressed, what is it, three times now? If I’m a rock star, then you’re The Beatles ;) I really don’t know how you follow so many blogs (and find the time to leave such amazing comments). I think I need some of your gummy berry juice! You absolutely get a pass. Go frolick in the sunshine or something ;)
I just adore you two to pieces! =) If there was a blogging Hall of Fame, Jules and Rian would definitely be among the first inductees. You gals are awesome!
I’m Ashley, and I live in Dallas, TX (originally from CA). Here’s a post about remembering to dream even when life starts getting in the way. It’s written from the perspective of a new mom because I am one, but it’s universal. You don’t have to be a parent to get mired down in the day-to-day :)
http://www.ashleyetc.com/2012/07/what-katy-perry-movie-taught-me-about.html
I’m Stephanie and I live in Vancouver, BC. My blog is about trying to live life to its fullest, whatever that means on a given day. I write about things I do, things I think about, and things that make me laugh. Here’s one of my older posts about my relationship with television : http://myonepreciouslife.wordpress.com/2010/10/28/pop-culture-binge/
I am Allan from San Francisco. Here is a post about one of my favorite teachers and the life-long gift she gave to me 55 years ago: http://ohmsweetohmdotme.wordpress.com/2012/05/13/life-before-google
Allan ~
Kudos to Mrs. Fletcher … And to you for honoring her in such a lovely way!
Rian,
In case you read this: I want to express how much I enjoy your blog. Well done for one who is [seemingly] so young.
It’s very nice of you to offer your site to other bloggers and, basically, share your instant success. Personally, I’m just learning WordPress but have no idea what to blog about. It’s fun learning WP though!
I don’t think you need any good luck wishes; so, I’ll just say keep up the great work!
Regards,
Jo
Thank you, Jo, and a big thanks to Rian for this opportunity to share.
Allan
I’m Amber, I’m from nowhere-Virginia, but currently reside in the U.S. Capitol*. My blog is about my long-delayed search for happiness, rather than just “success”.
The post that I’d really love to share with everyone is my Future Life Adventures (Bucket List). Feel free to take any ideas from it that you want in order to make your own!
http://smilescavenger.wordpress.com/2012/07/10/master-bucket-list/
*I did a Google search and it IS “Capitol” in this case, though that word always looks wrong to me.
And I’d like to add – thank you Rian for this wonderful pay-it-forward style post. :) <3 your blog
Hello Rian! I would like to share my very first post (though I still have very few, as I just started doing this), about the tattoo I recently got in memory of my mom. It is something that I think can resonate with anyone who has experienced any kind of loss. (I also have a blog post entitled “Group” that may be interesting to anyone who has ever participated in a therapeutic group process).
Thank you for doing this. The energy and enthusiasm you bring to your blog and fellow bloggers is amazing! Below is the link to my entry, “eph”:
http://emilypagehatch.wordpress.com/2012/06/23/eph/
Hi, I’m from Cary, NC The post I want to share is “The day I was one of the idiots…” because it captures the insanity and humor that is always part of my life http://thefertileinfertile.blogspot.com/2012/07/day-i-was-one-of-idiots.html
I love this idea!
I’m Anita and my blog is all about everything in life that is wonderful. I blog a lot about food (because food is WONDERFUL, you guys!) and my kid and random stuff that I love about life.
The post that I’d like to share is about the veggie box that I get delivered every second week. It makes everything about life that much more delicious.
Hey there! My name is Caitlin and I’m currently based in St. Louis, MO, but will be moving out to California soon. Here is a post from bubblewrappedblog, a chance for me to share my thoughts about various forms of pop culture and the goings on of my life. Check out this post about the devious trap that is PetSmart.

Hey Rian! I’d like to thank you for giving us great insights on different truths. I learned a lot from your blog, and I’m VERY glad I found it. Always well written and inspirational, I look forward to reading more of your posts. Happy blogging! :)
…
So, hi! I’m Patsy and I’m from the Philippines, but in a month or so, I’m going to be moving to Pennsylvania for college.
My blog post is about my decision to join Gretchen Rubin’s movement, The Happiness Project. Step one: I first need to be true to myself. I told myself I liked watching soccer games, Starbucks’ Coffee, and Hale & Hearty’s cold sandwiches, but I don’t.
I hope you guys read my post. Enjoy!

Hi Rian! I just stumbled across your blog via Freshly Pressed, and like most of the people commenting, find your blog to be incredibly inspiring and “real.” There aren’t many blogs out there like this so…thanks and keep it coming! I look forward to reading many more posts.
I’m Kristen from Charlottesville, VA – nice to meet you! My own blog is pretty brand spankin’ new, and while my content is a bit different from yours, I’m going to strive to be as real and raw as possible – my first post: http://themodagecottage.com/2012/06/18/an-inspirational-message-to-myself/ is an inspirational message to myself to do exactly that. Surprisingly, it’s actually harder than expected! I read so many amazing blogs out there (like yours), and frankly, sometimes it’s hard to maintain my own voice and point of view. Do you ever have this problem?
What a really great idea Rian.
My name is Carinn (pronounced like Corinne, not Karen). My blog, ‘Welcome To The Motherhood’ (as in Axl Rose, you’re in the jungle, baby), is the place where I tell new moms what it’s really like to be immersed in mommyhood. Hint: there is quite a lot that those ‘What to Expect’ books leave out.
http://welcometothemotherhood.com/
This recent post, Taking Flight, would most resonate with your readers. Of course my entire blog is full of truth — and cake ;)
Taking Flight
“I’ll go.”
I’ll leave. It’s what I do.
I am often praised for my ability to recognize when a situation is no longer working and having the so-called strength to leave.
“Better to cut your losses,” they say.
I left a small town where many were content.
I left a fiance.
I left the first law firm that hired me.
I left the state of New York, where all my friends and family resided.
I left the law firm that took a chance on a NY lawyer and helped me study for the California Bar Exam.
I left the practice of law altogether.
Sometimes, leaving is the right thing to do.
For me, it’s just a reflex.
Only once in my life was it glaringly obvious that I shouldn’t leave.
Not that I didn’t try. I had papers ready to be filed. I had cried to my parents. I had shared with my friends. Because, too insecure to decide on my own, I always test the waters before jumping ship. Like every other time, it appeared no one would hate me if I did it. Except my future ex-husband I suppose.
I couldn’t leave. Not this time. My typical ‘fight or flight’ response was stalled. This time I had to fight for my marriage. This time I had to say goodbye to my flight urge.
That was five years ago. Since then we’ve shared so much love, life, growth and acceptance. There has been adventure and comedy; forgiveness and compromise. We’ve shared dreams. We’ve watched them come true. We’ve cried when they didn’t.
Strength isn’t leaving. Strength isn’t staying. It’s not an action at all.
Strength is knowing. Strength is facing yourself head on. Strength is daring to act consciously.
“I want to stay,” I begged.
Alone, I could have flown; but together we soar.
It’s been a beautiful journey.
What a beautiful response. I’m going to check out your blog now. Anyone who had the courage to leave the law behind is my hero :) Someday, maybe I can do it too. :)
Excited to find some new blogs to obsess over!
I went through my catalog of over 160 posts from the last year and simply can’t decide what post best represents my blog or, indirectly, myself.
Instead of humming and hawing over the merits of each, or just picking the most popular (minor celebrity spotting, wow fangirls are intense), I decided to select my very first post which was a story I had sent to a fellow blogger about a particularly embarrassing day I had. Its poorly written, as it was originally an email and definitely doesn’t count as either my funniest or my best work – but its me. Just Nancy, just publicly embarrassed. The Usual
I’m Nancy Francis, from Toronto Canada – and I had a yeast infection.
Hi Rian. Great blog you got here! (And am not just saying that). Read through many of your posts though I just came across the blog, thanks to FP.
Thanks for the oportunity to leverage on your amazingness. This sort of relates with chocolates, couvertures, the TMI syndrome and its backlash. http://modupeore.wordpress.com/2011/10/26/pass-the-couverture/
And this, http://modupeore.wordpress.com/2011/10/18/as-i-sat-there/, with waking up somewhere in the middle of your life (if you’re lucky) or towards the end if….
Right. unto the terms of the agreement, these links am seeing here all look interesting, who’s will I go for…?
Got a budding short story about a beauty queen here @ http://modupeore.wordpress.com/2011/12/14/the-lily-chronicles-1/
Thank you for you’re going to click on at least one of the links
And hugs to Rian for this opportunity.
First of all Congrats – You DESERVE It – YAY!!! Second what a Great Idea! Here is a post that went like gangbusters on my site recently – Enjoy & Have a Great Day Everyone!
http://cravesadventure.wordpress.com/2012/06/26/one-word/
The blog is Rennaisance: word for word, and pls do leave your comments, i will be all over your blog as well. Thanks again
Yo, thanks for letting us pimp ourselves out on your comments thread! No seriously, congrats on the double Freshly Pressedness. Becca from Louisiana here. I mostly write humorous posts about insignificant instances in my life as I patiently wait to move cross-country, however, I believe this post has a little more meaning behind it. I chose this because your readers obviously love that all of your posts have a sort of conclusive lesson to learn from, or at very least, bits that provoke though.
What a fantastic idea! I was so thrilled to see you on Freshly Pressed the other day – I look forward to your posts and your insights, so in my mind you were a perfect pick for FP. You are awesome to share it forward – and create a way for others to step out a bit.
Here’s a post I wrote recently on my own process and thoughts about blogging – it was a helpful process to give myself permission to engage in something I enjoy, without having to get external validation. Freeing!
Thanks again!
Just wanted to say, you’re awesome for paying it forward! All the best to you…
Great concept! I’ll try to go through all the other blogs over the weekend; some look really interesting. Here’s a post of mine – it’s the first half of a project where I tried to be nice to people for a week.
http://andrewgirardin.blogspot.ch/2012/01/project-nice-week.html
Thank you for pressing us! Such a great idea. The post I would like to share I call “dress code.” it deals with others people, especially those close to us, trying to make us fit in a mold that wasn’t meant for us. Tonight my husband will officially become Pastor Husand, and I will become The Pastors wife…tattooed and refusing to be made something I’m not, and never was made to believe. In case people are afraid I’m a bible thumper…I’m far from it and hope to never forcemy beliefs on anyone. But most of my stuff (3 whole entries) are things that can apply to most everyone.
http://wendyheald.wordpress.com/2012/07/06/dress-code/
Thank you very much for this post! It is a very interesting and fun idea, and I hope it helps lots of people get new readers!
I’m Tracey from Nova Scotia, and my blog is called No Page Left Blank. For my post, I’ve chosen one in which I spoke about my feelings toward electronic books:
Hey Rian! You know I love you, and I appreciate you ‘paying it forward’ and sharing your fame with all of us unknowns :) But seriously, it’s very sweet and generous. I am Tobi, from Montana. My blog is about my daily search for bliss. This post is a little window into my heart and soul. Hope you all enjoy it and I can’t wait to check everyone else out!!! XOXO, Tobi

What an awesome idea! I loved your blog before and I love it even more now! My name is Jennifer and I live in Boulder, Colorado. I try to post thought-provoking posts with links to news stories and add questions to generate discussion. This one is one of my recent favorites and is about the importance of slowing down amidst all the hustle and bustle of daily life: http://newsofthetimes.org/2012/07/01/the-importance-of-slowing-down-in-a-busy-bee-culture/ I also lighten things up frequently with photos, travel items and song lyrics. I hope some of you will visit and thank Truth and Cake for being so awesome and inviting us to share our work! Thanks Truth and Cake!
First of all, your idea is brilliant and benevolent, so I thank you in advance.
Music being one of the most important parts of my life, I see my desire to constantly discover new bands and my ability to objectively review new music and live shows as an opportunity for me to show the world what it’s missing. I have a wide-ranging taste, from EDM to classic rock.Furthermore, I tend to include personal narratives before, or alongside, my illustrations of musical experiences I have had, in an effort to make readers think about all of the other ingredients that contribute to a ‘whole’ musical experience. Here is a post which includes many of the avenues I like to travel down with my music blog. Enjoy!

…I changed my mind. While the original link I provided is good for what it is, this one is a better illustration of my blog’s identity. http://liv4music.wordpress.com/2012/06/06/new-music-infected-mushroom-provides-free-trip/
I am from Kansas City, MO, by the way, though I will be a New Orleans native by mid-August.
Hello! My name is Lucy, I’m originally from North Pole, Alaska. I moved to Florida about a year ago and I am lovin’ life in the Sunshine State! I blog about whatever I’m thinking about – fashion, working out, food, politics and Marketing are the top contenders. I am pretty sarcastic and I try and keep it entertaining. Here’s one that I recently wrote about the workout program Insanity. http://lucillespann.wordpress.com/2012/07/12/insanity-makes-you-crazy/ Hope it gives someone a giggle!
Hey, Rian! Congrats on being freshly pressed again! I’ve been following your blog since the first couple of weeks that you started blogging here at WP, and I’ve always enjoyed reading!
I am a twenty-something girl from Texas. I’m going to school for my bachelor’s in psychology, and I am a stepmom to my fiance’s 2 kids. My “about” page has more info, but I tend to blog about the daily stuff of life, and I’m a big fan of DIY and photography. I sometimes blog about the joys and frustrations of being a stepmom ( http://wp.me/p1YRs0-jY ), being a mommy to a cute chihuahua ( http://wp.me/p1YRs0-sb ), and…well….life! :)
Can’t wait to check out all these other blogs!

I keep coming back here and checking more and more blogs – you have some amazingly talented bloggers following you, and now I’M following THEM. Golden!
Samesies! I am visiting them all, finding inspiration in all sorts of different places… thank you!
I’m trying to get around to visit them all as well.
There are some fantastic bloggers out there that I would not have found if it weren’t for this!
My name is Bethany and I’m in Florida. I’m very new to blogging….baby steps, for sure! I actually wrote this post today because it’s my anniversary. It’s about truths in marriage I suppose. Hopefully it appeals to someone! Here’s the link: http://mrswonderful26.wordpress.com/2012/07/12/4-years/
I just started following Truth and Cake and am hooked already. Keep the great insight coming! :)
Hi Rian,
You are a beautiful soul and your writing reflects that. I found your blog via Freshly Pressed a few days ago and love your humourous insight into life and the human condition. Now following and have you on my blogroll. Thanks for your generosity and giving fellow bloggers this great opportunity to connect. I just started blogging, so I don’t have many posts up yet (many more cooking now and soon to be served)! I work in education so wrote a tongue-in-cheek post about the kind of graduation advice that might actually be useful to students. My name is Maria and I live in Los Angeles, but please don’t hold that against me (the LA part, that is) :) My blog is about the musing, meddlings and moments in life’s journey. Looking forward to reading some of the great blogs I am seeing off your post. Enjoy!

Hi! My name is Alyssa and I’m an aspiring journalist. I, like many others, came across your blog yesterday. It’s amazing that you just started it a few months ago! I love your writing style and content. Keep it up!
Like you said, it’s disheartening to have such little readership. Actually, yesterday was the most traffic I’ve ever had, and even though it wasn’t much, it felt amazing. But honestly, I write because I love it, which I think you can gather from my bio. Here’s a little bit about my blog, The Girl With The Purple Pen:
I’m an avid writer never without a smile and purple pen. My blog follows my journey to accomplishing my dreams of marrying my love of journalism and fashion. I hope to write for a magazine one day, and being the ambitious, perfectionist I am, I’ve been adding to my resume, holding internships and blogging jobs since my junior year of high school.
While I love blogging for me, I’m using it as an opportunity to broaden my skills and gain some exposure. If you could help me gain followers, it could be invaluable to achieving my goals.
Thank you for the opportunity. Again, your blog is amazing. I truly enjoy reading it.
Okay, I’ll bite. I’m Erica, and I recently moved to an exceptionally hot part of the United States. http://asignoflife.wordpress.com/2012/07/10/flying-with-the-moon/ This is a link to a slightly more personal post of mine, about what it was like when I had my horse. I tend to rant about people and write about animals.
Thanks for the great idea for everyone to share posts, Rian! This post is from my blog Aspiring Taoist, and is about how Tai Chi and related meditation practices can help in dealing with the fast pace and stress of our lives today…
Hi I’m Jodi in Atlanta, GA. My posts are ingredient driven and I usually follow ingredients from my small garden through the kitchen. What really excites me is how certain ingredients paired together elevate them both to new heights.
One of my favorite recent posts is about the watermelons we grew last year, and my favorite recipe using watermelon. Hope you enjoy it as much I enjoy reading your posts.
Hello there, I’m Nurse Frugal. I currently work as an emergency room nurse in two ER’s in Southern California. My husband and I are currently in the midst of working like nobody’s business to pay off our mortgage next year. I love my job as a nurse and thought I would share this article about things that patients say to me: http://ladiesgofirst.wordpress.com/2012/07/10/nurse-talk-things-my-patients-say/ Thanks for reading! Congrats on being freshly pressed…..TWICE!!!!
Hey, my name’s Gemma, I’m from Scotland and I am an aspiring journalist. I started my blog a few months ago and I write about everything and anything that takes my fancy – some Ponderings of Society, movie reviews, music (I have a weird obsession with KPOP :D, can I hear a “Fighting!” for fandom), as well as some thoughts on things I have found emotive. Hope you enjoy!
This post is one of those that look a tiny bit deeper. Had some interesting discussion with some mates about it: http://gemgemgoesglobal.wordpress.com/2012/06/21/94/
Just found your blog and am loving the content, fantastic :D
How wonderfully generous of you, Rian, and congrats on being Freshly Pressed again! The truth, without the cake. is all your posts could be FP! Yes, I am a little jealous :)
My name is Tammy and I live in KY. I am a mom, work full-time, and blog mainly about anything that comes across my mind. This is my post:
Will My Kids be Okay
I’m jumping on the bandwagon! This is such a great idea and if I ever get freshly pressed I promise to do something similar. You are incredibly kind and thoughtful. I’m Emily from NH/MN/TX. I blog about my life and whatever else strikes my fancy. My post to share is about navigating in real life and relationships. Hopefully some of you enjoy! Thanks again Rian! http://david-and-emily.com/2012/04/30/marriage-mondays-the-art-of-navigation/
Hiya!!!! I’m Shelli! Originally from Los Angeles, California + I’m married to a crazy Canuck who might possibly be a Muppet! I just arrived in Calgary, Alberta + I’m having major culture shock! Here is an old post from my blog “How’s It Going, Eh?”: http://howsitgoing-eh.com/2012/04/21/mall-walker/ Starting a new life in Canada is a wacky adventure!!!! Thanks for bringing together a great community of peeps!!!
This is a super rad idea- and I’m so excited to explore the posts listed above!
I’m a new blogger, just a few months in. I just had a ball reviewing the posts I’ve written, realizing that I seem to focus a lot on food (and even more on wine!)… My intention in writing was to keep life in perspective- ups, downs, in-betweens- there is always something to be stoked about. I write about adventures in food, drink, life in Park City, travel and road trips, and a wicked cute puppy named Cholula. (Seriously. She’s adorable.)
I picked this post (http://theusualbliss.com/2012/04/14/a-confession-20-2/) because it reflects my style of writing and includes a lot of photos. I try to do both well in my posts. There’s a link in the first line or two to my other favorite post about my husband-to-be’s wandering eye…
Thanks for this, Rian! Congrats on FP!!
amber @ theusualbliss.com
I love this idea! Congratulations on your freshly pressedness. You deserve it, your blog is terrific. I’m a student of naturopathic medicine from Toronto, Canada. My passions are health, art, writing, poetry, photography and philosophy and each blog, in some way reflects a part of me and my journey to becoming a naturopathic doctor. My blog is called Art and Practice. I hope you visit! http://taliamarcheggiani.wordpress.com/2012/03/19/almond-shells/#more-950
Just when I think I can’t admire you anymore, you go and do something as wonderful and kindhearted as this. Rian, you amaze me! From the first Freshly Pressed post to each and every additional one, your blog (and you!) continue to inspire me in all aspects of life. You know that part in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” where his heart grows three sizes? That’s the kind of effect your writing and your Rian-ness has on the masses. You make us laugh, you make us think, you make us write better. I hope you realize how awesome you are and even more so for this sweet gesture to all your readers. Never stop being you! xoxo
Now, for those of you who don’t know me, I’m Jessica from Southern California and I write a blog called “Defining Wonderland.” What started out as a New Year’s resolution has become so much more than I could have ever imagined and I am so grateful to have “met” so many people along the way. Thanks to Rian’s graciousness, I have the opportunity to “meet” many more awesome people. Per the guidelines, here is one of my popular posts. Behold, the 10 Things I Hate About Facebook:
http://definingwonderland.wordpress.com/2012/06/05/10-things-i-hate-about-facebook/
I hope you enjoy it!
Rian, congrats on being Freshly Pressed for the second time! I’ve been following you since your first FP, so feel like I’m an original! What a lovely idea to freshly press some of your readers. I am a working mum (aka taxi driver!), a New Zealander, have a blended family, and run two blogs. I have some gluten-free cake posts, but here is one about tea and friendship and my happy places. http://familymattersnz.wordpress.com/2012/03/09/finding-your-happy-place-in-times-of-chaos/ And just to be keep in with the cake theme, here’s a cupcake post: http://familymattersnz.wordpress.com/2012/03/24/the-joy-of-cupcakes-why-it-is-important-to-make-time-for-your-children/
Thanks for this! I”’ now go and select 3 other blogs to look at!
Reblogged this on newsofthetimes and commented:
For those of you who are not following Truth and Cake, you really should. She has only been blogging for three months and has already been Freshly Pressed twice! Her posts are insightful, humerous and highly entertaining. I hope you will check her out. She was recently Freshly Pressed for the second time and developed this blog post in response, which I think is a brilliant idea, so I thought I would pass it along so others can participate. I hope you will join in! I probably should have posted this: http://newsofthetimes.org/2012/06/23/does-anyone-care-about-the-lack-of-women-in-leadership-positions/ or this: http://newsofthetimes.org/2012/06/21/romance-in-paris-why-do-french-bookstores-continue-to-thrive/ or this: http://newsofthetimes.org/2012/07/05/740/ or this: http://newsofthetimes.org/2012/07/11/tuesday-tunes-i-want-to-write-like-bob-dylan/ but I got so excited that I just posted the first one that came to mind. I hope you will join in!
Wow, found some great blogs through this. Great idea!
I write Japan travel and culture posts through my blog, and one post that I was certain would interest a lot of people, but ended up being one of the least viewed, was my profile of an inspirational Japanese photographer, Akasaka Tomaoke, and included a lot of tips on freelance photography. http://wherenextjapan.wordpress.com/2012/06/16/an-interview-with-a-happy-man/
Thanks for the idea! One of the ways that WordPress beats others like Blogger is the community.
http://iamarunnergirl.wordpress.com/2012/06/20/the-best-part-of-running-in-a-race/ This is a favorite blog of mine so far. When I posted this I didn’t realized it was almost my uncle’s birthday. Funny how things like that happen.
By the way, I’m blogging from Sacramento California!!
Hi my name is Abby and I just started my blog Monday! So I don’t have a lot of material yet here is one of my first posts http://arockiday.wordpress.com/2012/07/10/californication/ It is simply some thoughts rolling around in my mind… how else do you start a blog? haha
Congrats on FP! Looks like we’ve all been writing about social media quite a bit these days. I’ve been thinking about whether social media makes us less sociable (http://rusticrecluse.wordpress.com/2012/06/26/does-social-media-make-us-unsociable/) and prompted by a study, thought about how social media can affect our self-esteem (http://rusticrecluse.wordpress.com/2012/07/09/social-media-self-esteem/). A little off my usual. I prefer to write stories and about travels.
Either ways, your idea here is cool! :)
What a wonderful idea and an inspiring example of how we can all pay-it-forward and help each other out on this journey! I started following your blog after the first Freshly Pressed and have loved your insights and your witty voice. Congrats on #2!
I have been blogging for a little less than a year from just outside Toronto. I write about the little moments that make me smile, laugh, cry, think, wonder – about (trying) to be a writer, the ups and downs of motherhood, the horror of trying to buy pants that fit – just about anything and everything! This post is about getting out of my own head and just writing already:
http://thepolkadotpalace.wordpress.com/2012/05/11/the-ideas-or-the-words/
Now I’m off to check out some amazing blogs – thanks again!
Splendid idea Rian! Thanks for the opportunity to rummage through other blogs that I might have never found and are worth checking!
Now to add my little piece to the puzzle, my name is Renny and I have more or less a book blog with a little snippets from a festivals and London life in general (http://thebookinstinct.com/2012/05/02/globe-to-globe/). I mostly review books that are bit off the beaten path like this one http://thebookinstinct.com/2012/05/20/have-a-nice-weekend-by-ian-ellis/.
I extend my warm welcome to everyone who wants to pop over for some inspiration or just a little chat ;)
Renny
Hello! Linnette over here from Puerto Rico. I have to say that your style and blog inspired me to do a make-over of sorts in my blog. Although it’s not quite finished it’s coming along :) I thought this was a great idea as I also feel there are so many creative, witty and funny bloggers out there that deserve an audience. For me blogging is an opportunity to connect to other creative people, to share those experiences and learn from others. My personal blog goal is to get to know all those interesting and different people from around the world. So my favorite post so far is this one I hope you like it :) http://dolacotidiana.wordpress.com/2012/05/07/my-ever-losing-battle-with-procrastination/
Now off to meet new people!
Dear Truth,
I appreciate you sharin the love.
I’m from South Dakota. My blog is a complete mish-mash.
You never know what I’m gonna post.
I’m highlighting this one…because it’s about the very subject of being PRESSED;))
Thank you so much♥
Lisa
I love the funny!
Dear Sheila,
I’m only funny sometimes.
I get a case of the romantics quite often.
Just naviagate around those posts.
;)
Love, Lis

Shameless self promotion. Who could resist?
Not me.
I’m in Taiwan writing about my experiences here. This particular post is about blogging though. It got a lot of hits, and I thought maybe others will enjoy it too.
http://scintilatebrightly.wordpress.com/2012/06/17/my-blog-is-living-the-life-i-was-meant-to-live/
Now I’m off to read something else from your comments section.
Good idea, by the way. That was kind of you.
I’m in London and your social media blog caught my eye because I’ve written a play which I hope to e-publish. While I’d love to get on FP, my blog has attracted a creative producer who is going to put the play on in London and live stream it too – all part of the big social media experiment. This is the blog on my big break:
But I also asked bloggers: How often should you blog: http://womanbitesdog.wordpress.com/2012/06/11/how-often-should-you-blog/
Thanks for this chance to connect to some of your readers.
My name is Scott. I don’t do poetry all the time, but this one received excellent comments and I really like it, too! I already follow you and would tell others to do the same. Thanks for this.
Scott
Oh, I forgot, didn’t I? I am early fifties, single (except for my cat), live in a small town (Middletown, IN by Anderson), and love this blogging thing. A little over two years ago, I had a massive mid-brain stroke. Thanks to God, I am on the mend, but, more important, I am changing for the better in so many other facets of life.
Glad to hear you recovered from the stroke! My mother had one 5.5 years ago and recovered also. I believe she, like you, was healed with a purpose. Blessings! I’ll be stopping by soon.
I am so glad to hear it (both about your mother and you stopping by).
Scott
I am just barely a blog writer and am all but ineligible for this game; however, I want to say that I think you are a goddamn genius for using your FP status this way. If your ideas are always this good/new/kind, you will do a lot in life.
My Renaissance Life is about a new beginning, to one day wake up and realize I was unhappy. I had the checklist for happiness completed which ended up being a recipe for hard lessons lived. I wrote a poem, Zombie, one I could not ignore once my little girl entered the world. It is hard enough taking care of oneself; let alone raising an adult-to-be. She helped me realize none of us know what the hell we’re doing, but we’re still here doing it, the best we can. Soon after a story kept surfacing in my mind, one about a female angel and a human boy, the simple act of taking that leap of faith, resulted in me finally crossing the threshold in finding my happily ever after as I learned to set my heart free, choosing love, choosing to slay the dragon of resistance and write, just write, write, write. They say one of the most interesting things about ourselves is the story we’re living and in living through such, the journey, we then reach out and greet one another with our flax-woven tales to feel as if not alone, to share in the colorful human experience, to share in truth, in little white lies, in cake, as well as in the discovery of ourselves and the world around; the things that make us tick. This is one of my favorite posts for me a metaphor for finding oneself, someone you’ve always known but as of yet (or perhaps, already lived through *wink Rian*) wholly making that acquaintance. Thank you for sharing the love, it is felt :)
http://myrenaissancelife.net/2012/05/28/renaissance-color/
Hi Kristy, I just checked out your blog and am now following {I love that handing follow button the wordpress has in place for us}. Looking forward to more lovely reading about your life in the PNW!
What a great idea! My blog focuses on books, so my post is about Susan Cain’s Quiet: The Power of Introverts . . . It was a popular book recently. In my review, (and in all of my book reviews) I add my own twist by sharing stories of my introverted self. Check it out here: http://emilyjanuary.wordpress.com/2012/05/23/its-okay-to-be-an-introvert-a-review-of-susan-cains-quiet/
Rian! I’m ADDICTED! I think I’ve added at least a dozen blogs to my list. Thank you AGAIN for this post!
Me too!!!
same here haha
Thanks for the invite. My blog is goodwholesomefun.wordpress.com. I did a trackback yesterday to your post on popculture snobbery on my post about the third book of The Hunger Games being made into two movies. I write young adult fantasy / sci fi fiction and am working on building a network of sci-fi and fantasy fans who want to watch and read well-done media that’s also family-friendly. it can still have dark themes (like The Hunger Games, Harry Potter), but lacks more visceral elements. Those are good in their place, but not the kind of things I write. My goal is to write things that are ultimately happy and uplifting. If anyone’s looking for good, wholesome, fun, and enjoys sci-fi/fantasy, come check it out.
OOOh, I adore sci-fi/fantasy (I’m writing an urban fantasy young adult book). While it’s not lacking visceral elements as my most recent excerpt was the two kissing {let the sparks fly}, I understand wanting family-friendly as I’m a mother.
http://myrenaissancelife.net/2012/07/05/let-the-sparks-fly/
Rian, i also found your blog via Freshly Press and, like so many others, i loved it too! You have such a distinctive voice, your writing style is moving and memorable! I enjoyed several other posts of yours before reading this one and deciding that i am in! Here is where i come from: http://moderndayruth.net/2012/07/13/a-vacation-in-the-magical-kingdom/
Congratulations on your Freshly Pressed twice! This was truly a novel idea….
I live in Maryland and my blog is about my new professional organizing business and other random thoughts about me and my life. My most popular post is http://findingorderincorpusa.wordpress.com/2012/06/04/my-son-has-reappeared-but/. Thanks for the opportunity to share!
Congratulations on getting Freshly Pressed again. More importantly, I think it’s great that you’re “paying it forward” and giving others an opportunity to get more readership. I recently read through your latest blog titled “saving your ass” and totally can relate. Writing has become my lifeline and anchor for sure. Last summer, my 3 year old nephew (now 4) went through a bone marrow transplant to treat a rare blood disorder he had. Writing allowed me not only an escape, but also the amazing opportunity to document his story for him later in life. Seeing how his story is truly inspirational, both medically and emotionally/spiritually, I put together the website: thewillof50strongmen.com for him and for others who are searching for hope out there in a scary world. Most importantly, I am trying to raise awareness for “Be The Match” foundation – a nonprofit organization that matches patients with bone marrow donors. My favorite post is this one: http://thewillof50strongmen.com/2011/06/27/grow-where-you-are-transplanted/
I also have a personal blog titled “Scratching the Surface” and that can be followed by going to http://www.magpiewrites.com
Thanks for everything, Rian. Take care. Megan (from Illinois).
What a beautiful idea. I’m a new blogger, so my post count is rather low, but I’d love to participate regardless! I think posts in list form can be fun, so I’m including an entry that lists thirty little life lessons for closing one chapter of my life and beginning a new one. Some are serious and some are silly.
Many thanks for your generosity to the blogosphere!
http://theblackbirdwhistling.wordpress.com/2012/06/04/a-few-lessons/
Hi there Rian! Thanks so much for this lovely opportunity. I’m Arionne of AriSpeaks.com. My blog is about using my voice to inspire us to all live better, thereby making our world better. I do so by reflecting on music, pop culture, current events, theology, my own life, or anything that would foster introspection and meaningful conversation. I grew up and currently work and live in Kansas City, MO, home of the BEST barbecue in the world and a few thousand fountains! (Randomly we just finished hosting MLB’s 2012 All-Star Game!) We’re so cool! LOL!
This post, “Runners…On Your Mark…Get Set…WALK” describes the epiphany I had about needing to slow down the pace of life…I hope you enjoy!!!

I just found your blog today, because of Newsofthetimes. Thanks for inviting us to join in. I’m in Northern California and we are enjoying a rather schizophrenic summer (super hot one day and cool the next) My blog is mostly book reviews with the miscellaneous thrown in. http://literarytiger.wordpress.com/2012/07/13/classics-or-good-books/
Cheers!
:-)
Hi I’m a new blogger mainly blogging about crafty stuff for my business running making evenings in a town called Witney in the United Kingdom. Here’s a post I wrote about glamming up a lampshade for my daughter: http://makeve.wordpress.com/2012/07/14/lampshade-makeover/
First: congratulations on being Freshly Pressed! Second: I am amazed at the grace in which you have proceeded and love your pay-it-forward attitude. You have shown us how to form our own communities and are a great facilitator.
TRUTH, my blog started out as a college assignment and many of my older post are academic {read boring} and the CAKE is I’m funny {at least in my head I am}. My next step is to delete the posts that are in the boring category, but hitting delete hurts, but I need to do it fast like when you rip off a band-aid and it takes skin and part of the scab gets stuck, but you keep going ’cause your half way there.
This post is in the ‘I should use this in my stand up comedy routine’ category, hopefully it makes you laugh. http://simplysheila.wordpress.com/2011/05/08/yeahipeekedbutgodstilllovesm/
Cheers and happy weekend!
Hi Rian. I am Azaf from the Maldive Islands. I am loving your blog and I too love a good cake. Looking forward to reading your posts! Sending lots of sunshine your way
Oh Ms. Rian, I’ve been following you since that first fateful Fresh Press and was so happy to see you recognized yet again. I’m also ever so grateful for the opportunity to hop on your coat tails for a short ride.
I’m a medical student in my final year of training, driven to capture those fleeting moments which define the experience of a medical trainee – the situations that deflect my lips, give me pause, or piqué the tear ducts, imparting more truth than any medical textbook or didactic lecture.
Such moments teach me that life is…
…short
…unexpected
…hilarious
…fair
…terrifying
…confusing
…and, above all, eclectic.
Life’s not always cake, but it’s always flavorful – and a good mix of sweet and bitter truths, at that.
Thanks again for the opportunity – and for providing a showcase of good reading material – I’ve now found more than 10 new blogs to enjoy! Best to you!

Hi, i’m a 16 year old girl from Australia. I only VERY recently began blogging and would love it if you checked out my post called ‘QUIZ: Do you have the douchiest facebook friends?’ http://piehowareyou.wordpress.com/2012/07/15/quiz-do-you-have-the-douchiest-facebook-friends/
I have checked out quite a few of everyone elses blogs and must say I am blown away at the quality of them. It’s great inspiration and I hope to follow in the foosteps of these fantastic bloggers.
If you comment on my post I will most definitely follow you back.
Thanks again.

Hi, great blog and thanks for the opportunity, my blog is called “A Surprise Called Life” and it’s about musings of a first time mum to twin boys, I’m also a Beauty Therapist so I share beauty advice, share recipes for indulgent sweet treats and write about life’s happenings in general.
The particular post that I’ve got here is about remembering to do the little things that make you feel centred and ‘put together’ amongst the chaos that is everyday life. Happy reading

Hi Rian – what a lovely gesture this is! I noticed you on Freshly Pressed, but what caught my eye was the word “cake” in your title (I like frosting). Glad I clicked because I’ve been enjoying your posts immensely, especially “Both Guns Blazing”.
Taking you up on your offer, here I go:
My name is Becca and I live in New York City with my husband and pre-teen son. I write a blog called Narcissista.me which is about beauty, anti-aging and fun. (Sub-text: “I’m having a mid-life crisis and blog is less destructive than an affair, face life or Porche 911”).
My most popular post is one called 4 Trends I Want to Become Huge. The link can be found here.

Thanks for restoring my faith in the humanity of the internet.

Hi Rian I think this was a total success! Thanks for stopping by and liking my post :) I’m glad to say that I’ve found some pretty amazing blogs though this so thax for that!
The post I picked to share is called Gatekeepers: http://bereavedandblessed.com/2011/09/gatekeepers/
I wrote it after losing a friend who took her own life. It talks about how we can help each other through difficult and uncertain times in our lives by asking two simple questions.
This blog entry also inspired the monthly Gatekeeping series http://bereavedandblessed.com/category/gatekeeping/ that I lead on my blog called Bereaved and Blessed.
I am a mom, writer and group fitness instructor from Chicago, IL finding joy in the journey after secondary infertility and loss.
Congrats on being Freshly Pressed again and for this opportunity Rian! I look forward to checking out many of the other blog entries/bloggers who also linked up here.
P.S. Here’s the Gatekeepers link again, as it didn’t appear to come through as a hyperlink the first time: http://bereavedandblessed.com/2011/09/gatekeepers/
I’m new to this. I stumbled upon your blog and I’m so glad I did! In my blog, Peacock in a Robin’s Nest, I’m covering a life of duplicity and contradiction. I work in the fashion industry. It focuses so much on external and SELF. I love what I do, but I’ve needed a creative way to bring my two worlds together. Trying to bring the beauty of family, friendship and humility into the world of design and fashion. I call it my “fashion infused life”.
I chose the post that might represent the blog best. http://peacockinarobinsnest.wordpress.com/2012/07/05/surrogate-sister-2/
Thank you for your helpful tips and for helping all of us. Peace.
Hi Riann, I just got an email notification for your post and was pleasantly surprised when I get it. This is such a sweet gesture.
I think I’d like to share one of my earlier posts with you. It’s a short story I wrote one day when I just needed to get my feelings down on paper and express myself somehow.
The short story focuses on a girl living in a turbulent household. Her life is far from perfect, her feelings are far from perfect but as everything seems to fall to pieces around her, she finds some solace in her art. Even if it isn’t picked, I hope you enjoy reading it.
Here’s the direct link: http://zainabkhawaja.wordpress.com/2010/06/24/aspirations/
Happy reading and blogging!
Oh, also, I live in Pakistan. :)
Rian:
Steve Watkins from Jonesboro, AR. I’ve been following your blog about a month and always read the full post. Enjoy your work and admire your style. Thanks for providing this opportunity. The thing I most agree about in this post is that we are forming a community, a community that, in many cases, shares values and beliefs. I believe there is a collective manner in which we can go beyond the informality of community and make a difference in the world. I’m proposing in this post: http://wp.me/p2bjEC-oF an opportunity for a group of like-minded believers to come together next June for a fun time and discussion of how we might pool our collective talents for the greater good. Nothing would thrill me more than for this to work out. You’re certainly among the bloggers I’d love to see there. For additional information about the location, you may view an additional blog I manage at http://www.latitudeone.wordpress.com … This is something I believe that could really be good, and it’s a potential dream come true for me. Thanks for the possibility, and the potential help with this. ~ steve
Hi Rian,
Thanks so much for the opportunity (:

My post is about regretting, apologizing and forgiving, Inspired by TED talks. Since their slogan is “ideas worth spreading” I share it with all T&K readers. Hopefully, you all will find a way to relate.
It was , of course, suppose to be T&C (as short for Truth and Cake). I stop typing so fast !

I just wrote this 2 days ago. Its about finding love within yourself for yourself after a breakup. It honestly felt like I didn’t even have a choice about writing it. It came to me complete, like a gift.
So great to find you though my friend Bonnie @ Paper Keeper! Congrats to you. And how kind of you to share your glory! I am an Okie, just back to the state for four yrs now…an empty nester, kinda starting over. Hubby & I have a heart for our service men & woman, active & retired. There are many in our family. We appreciate their sacrifice, dedication and love of country. That’s why we were at the Tulsa Airport on this particular night: http://stuffitellmysister.me/2012/04/20/honoring-heroes-oklahoma-honor-flights/

My blog is an eclectic collection of cosmetic discourse, political satire and other random babble from the sparkly mind of an English Major/ beauty-enthusiast and this is my latest post about perspective, self-awareness, and a really bad nose bleed.
I am a student at the University of California studying literature and a part-time shampoo peddler.

How generous of you to share the love!! I can’t believe how helpful and bright the Twitter, FB and WordPress writers are that I’ve encounterd.
I just started my blog a few weeks ago, and I did put a link to your post re: the TMI of social media and got lots of hits so I hope that helped you.
Here is a post that I especially am proud of – its really my about page but it tells you who I am as a writer and what I want to accomplish by putting my mother’s recollections about growing up in Providence RI during the depression out there for everyone to read.
Looking forward to reading and commenting on the comments here! Thanks

Hi Rian, I’m so new to blogging! Ahahaha… I got to know you from your second blog “what did you give up to get what you got”. I loved it!
I am 21, a uni student from Toronto, I blog about things I learn in my every day life, and I hope that I can help people to feel motivated to live their life to the fullest!!!
I want to join your blog party! Here’s a blog, though I don’t know how “creative” it is. But it’s about my home town in Cottonwood. Minnesota and I was going for light. My blogs are normally about things that trouble me in the daily news, or just things that I figure are worth a moment’s thought. I thoroughly enjoy your blogs and will continue to read them even if you skip over this one! (And I cheked out the blogs you highlighted. Many thanks) http://hughcurtler.wordpress.com/2012/02/09/my-home-town/
What a good idea! I’ve not been blogging long, so here’s a a post on my blog that shows some of my photography and what goes on in my mind at the same time :)
I seem to have come late to the party. Oh well, off I go to stalk!
This is truly inspired, thank you Rian! Loving you work, so I’m going to wholeheartedly participate. I’ve already clicked on about 20 links!!
I’m a 30-something in the north of England. I blog about life’s ups and downs, and my constant search for happiness outside of the expected societal norms (plus any other ramblings that pop into my head, from politics to hiking to teaching-related rants). This is a link to an early post of mine exploring the absurdity of the beauty-orientated culture in which we live:

Now, I’m of to read a LOT of exciting blogs!
My Sexy Pictures captures me perfectly- from my over zealous ideas to my self-doubt and awkwardness then my over-confidence kicks in again. Dreamlife Moments gives me the platform I yearned for but only the lucky ones who know me get to hear daily. ha! – As I go along to this next awesome phase of My Life Without Stuff and starting our own Treasure Truck business and the people we meet along the way! Enjoy! http://dreamlifemoments.wordpress.com/2012/03/28/my-sexy-pictures/
Ever wanted to be an “attractive” teenage girl? Now you can be! http://piehowareyou.wordpress.com/2012/07/22/how-to-be-an-attractive-teenage-girl-2/
Making a life in Italy…and blogging about the best bits :) Grazie http://www.lacaravita.com
Emma, 23 from England. :) This is my post on heart break survival I wrote a few months ago when suffering with this, and hope you all enjoy reading it and it helps anyone who wishes to know how to cope when going through a break-up. xoxo
I opened a WordPress account so that I could follow my brother’s blog http://thefruitychicken.blogspot.com/ – he’s raising chickens and growing an orchard in Las Vegas. He kept leaving snide comments on my non-existent blog so I figured out a name and started posting to get him off my back:). I was pressed on my second blog and had to text him to ask what that was. Anyway, his blog is a good read, he’s smart and funny and passionate about chickens:). Me, I live in the Ozarks and take pictures of stuff. I sort the pictures and write sentimental or silly stuff that the photos remind me of. This is one of my favorites http://theeffstop.wordpress.com/2012/07/22/two-little-birdies-sittin-in-a-tree-k-i-s-s-i-n-g/ Blogging is something I am really enjoying, both the reading and the writing.
